Olmsted Falls defeated Holy Name 72-62 Gilmour Academy defeated Berea-Midpark 72-59 St. Edward defeated NDCL 59-52 Hawken defeated Walsh Jesuit 61-45 Ed’s, Hawken impress at Baldwin Wallace While the Great Lakes Classic got most of the initial excitement on opening weekend, there was still some quality basketball taking place at Baldwin Wallace University at the Cleveland Basketball Classic. In his 700th game with St. Edward, Eric Flannery led the Eagles to a 59-52 victory over Notre Dame Cathedral Latin (NDCL). It will be a tough year for Coach Flannery as St. Ed graduated a large chunk of seniors. But it’s next man up in Lakewood and the win shows the Eagles haven’t missed a beat. Hawken took care of business in the nightcap of Day 2 beating Walsh Jesuit 61-45. The Hawks have a young team and with the junior combo of Daron Hill and Greg Price leading them. This would be the 2nd loss for Walsh as they were defeated 79-41 by Highland just a few days prior. Hawken will be a team to watch in Northeast Ohio and a dominating win to start the year is always a great way to start things off.
